Pinemeadow Golf Command BK Driver

Pinemeadow Golf Command BK Driver

(as alternative to the Taylor Made® R7 CGB Max Driver)

Pinemeadow Golf Command BK Driver vs Taylor Made R7 CGB Max Driver

Manufacturer: Pinemeadow Golf

Model: Pinemeadow Golf Command BK Driver

Compares to: TaylorMade® r7 CGB Max Driver

Our Review: This new driver from Pinemeadow Golf has two distinct features, the triangular shape and the three weight ports in the back of the club head. The triangular shape shifts the center of gravity more towards the back of the club head, and the result is greater forgiveness when you hit the ball off center. It also increases the launch angle, giving you more trajectory and a longer drive as carry seems to be significantly improved.

The weight ports come with two weighted screws of 3 grams and one of 6 grams, and an Allen wrench. Fiddling with these allows you to customise the driver to your very own swing needs (for right hand players):

  • If you want the ball to move to the right (playing a fade), place the 6-gram weight into the right side (the toe) of the clubhead.
  • If you want the ball to move slightly to the left (play a slight draw), place the 6 gram weight in the middle weight port.
  • If you want to play a larger draw, place the 6 gram weight into the left side (the heel) of the clubhead.

The club head is made from titanium and boasts the maximum allowed size of 460cc. It comes in two lofts, 10.5 degrees and 12 degrees, with the latter being our recommendation for beginner golfers and golfers with slower swing speeds like most ladies and seniors. Like the whole BK Command series from Pinemeadow Golf this driver comes in shiny 'black pearl' finish. It looks very elegant and confidence building at address, a nice club to look at.

During our test we were surprised by the added distance with this driver, despite the higher launch angle due to the rear center of gravity (which normally means reduced distance). On windy days you should probably tee the ball a bit lower to counter the higher trajectory, although you may give up some distance. Another surprise was the solid sound of this driver, almost like a small explosion at impact. The stock shaft we tested is good and will suffice for most players, and upgrades are available if you want a premium shaft.

In summary this is a great club for mid to high handicappers, especially those who tend to hit the ball too low. The Pinemeadow Golf Command BK Driver comes with the exclusive low-torque Pinemeadow Limited Graphite shaft and costs only $119.95, inclusive of custom fitting. This is great value for money, especially if you compare it to the price of the Taylor Made® R7 CGB Max at $449.

Likes: Very long off the tee, good looks and sound.

Dislikes: Nothing negative found; the club even comes for lefties

My buddy has the 'real thing', and we compared the BK driver and his Taylormade r7 CGB Max side by side: no difference, only the BK is better looking compared to the red color of his TM. And of course he paid 3 times what I paid, ha, ha, ha. His loss, my gain...

Just received this club yesterday in time for monday golf league. Hadn't hit it at all prior to tee off. Was more than pleasantly suprised with this driver. It does have a higher launch but didnt notice any shortfall in length driven. I went with a 12 degree this time. On this course, playing back 9 is very tight, was only able to use 5 of 9 holes, but previously wouldnt dare use my driver on more than 3 of them. For me at least has helped in straightening out my drives more than before. Had been using the Bloc driver previously for about the last year.
